Parenting styles and discipline techniques include:

Authoritative parenting, which emphasizes setting clear boundaries and using reasoning and communication to guide children’s behavior, is associated with the best outcomes for children in terms of academic achievement, self-esteem, and emotional regulation.

Permissive parenting, which is characterized by a lack of rules and discipline, can lead to children who are less self-disciplined and have more behavior problems.

Authoritarian parenting, which is characterized by strict rules and a focus on obedience, can lead to children who are more compliant but also have lower self-esteem and greater difficulty in expressing themselves.

Uninvolved parenting, which is characterized by a lack of warmth and responsiveness to children, can lead to children who have lower self-esteem and greater difficulty in forming relationships.

Positive reinforcement techniques, such as praising good behavior, are more effective in promoting positive behavior than negative techniques, such as punishment.

Consistency in discipline, using the same techniques and consequences for similar misbehavior across different situations, is important for children to understand what is expected of them and to learn from their mistakes.

Physical punishment is not recommended as it can lead to physical and mental harm, and other methods like positive reinforcement, logical consequences, setting limits, and active listening are more effective in promoting positive behavior.

Here is a list of pros and cons for each of the main parenting styles and discipline techniques:
