Unarguable is the fact that Bentleys have the most luxurious interiors of any car, both luxury, and basic. But you can argue if you feel like.
No other car company in the world pays such painstaking attention to even the minutest details, and basic issues, in the quest for maximum comfort, as Bentley.
But this comes at a cost, and that cost is why Bentley is not for every joe.
One of the reasons the Bentley Mulsanne is regarded as a royal even among Bentleys is that it has one of the most beautiful, and natural-feeling leather interiors anyone can find.
The company claims that it sources its unique parts ethically, but a single car takes the skin of 17 Scottish cattle to get enough leather needed for the top notch interior comfort. The cattle is sourced from southern Germany
And all the 17 cattle must be male (bulls) because they have firmer skins that did not stretch during pregnancy. Moreso, all the cattle are selected from a herd that have never been bitten by Mosquitoes or the graze of barbed wire.
To achieve that, Bentley employs specialist teams in Crewe to scrutinise each hide for signs of scarring, graining, stretching, disease, insect bites and boils. The animals must be perfect.
Rolls Royce prefers McDonald’s Cows, for softer leather feel.
For the interior wood, Bentley wood experts go to great lengths to find tree varieties around the world with unique colours and patterns. From the elegant straight grain of Koa to the light colour and delicate markings of Tamo Ash, every piece of wood is stringently tested to ensure it meets Bentley’s quality and sustainability standards.
The company owns acres upon acres in Mississippi wetlands where the Red Gum Tree grows which is used to create its rich red-brown Liquid Amber veneer. In line with its sustainable policy, the company uses trees that fall naturally, and a new one is always planted in its place.
The price of luxury.
