The entitlement mentality of the elite is a mindset that assumes that they deserve special privileges and treatment because of their status, wealth, or power.

Some possible characteristics and consequences of this mentality are:

  • They may have unrealistic expectations of others and themselves, leading to frustration and disappointment when things don’t go their way.
  • They may lack empathy and compassion for those who are less fortunate or different from them, resulting in prejudice and discrimination.
  • They may exploit or manipulate others to get what they want, without regard for the feelings or rights of others.
  • They may resist change or feedback that challenges their views or beliefs, making them rigid and inflexible.
  • They may feel threatened by anyone who questions their authority or competence, causing them to react defensively or aggressively.
  • They may have difficulty accepting responsibility or admitting mistakes, blaming others or external factors for their failures or shortcomings.
  • They may have low self-esteem and insecurity, masking their insecurities with arrogance or narcissism.

In this blog post, I will explore the causes, symptoms, and effects of the entitlement mentality of the elite, as well as some ways to deal with them effectively.

Causes of Entitlement Mentality of the Elite

There is no definitive answer to what causes the entitlement mentality of the elite. It may be due to a combination of social, psychological, and biological factors.

Some possible causes are:

  • The environment they grew up in. If they were raised in a wealthy, privileged, or influential family, they may have learned to expect special treatment from others and to disregard the needs and feelings of those who are less fortunate or different from them.
  • The way they were treated by their parents. If they were spoiled, pampered, or overprotected by their parents, they may have developed a sense of entitlement that makes them feel they deserve everything they want without having to work for it.
  • The way they were treated by authority figures. If they were praised, rewarded, or excused by their teachers, coaches, or bosses for their achievements or behaviors, they may have developed a sense of entitlement that makes them feel they are superior to others and immune to criticism or consequences.
  • The way they treat themselves. If they have a narcissistic personality trait that makes them focus on their own needs and wants at the expense of others, they may have developed a sense of entitlement that makes them feel they are entitled to everything they desire without having to give anything back.
